Shortlisted information books focus on history, war, exploration and prehistoric animals. They include Maralinga, written by the Yalata and Oak Valley Aboriginal communities with Christobel Mattingley.

”These books help children find their place in their world. They take Australia to the world but they also bring the world to Australia,” Ms Kirkland said of the shortlists.
